Tuesday, June 25, 1985 (age 13)



Today we harassed Becky by teasing her and locking her in the closet. She locked me in it once and I couldn't get out! Can you believe it? Then we went to this girl Daria's house and I'm supposed to ride her horse Dasher tomorrow. Later, we spent the evening playing video games on their Atari. Right now Marcy won't let me sleep! I want to sleep, maybe I'll con her. 12:36

Monday, June 24, 1985 (age 13)



Today we played badminton at Sebastian's house (ed note: Marcy's neighbor). Becky likes him - its a little obvious. Maxine (ed note: Marcy's older sister) and Marcy can't play well enough to save their lives. I also met Marcy's friend May. Maxine saw her friend the snake today. She's deathly afraid of snakes ya know. Also, me and Marcy went out to save a mole that fell in a gutter because SHE thought it was a chipmunk. She ALSO made ME stay UP until 1:00 AM like it is now. 1:01

Sunday, June 23, 1985 (age 13)



Today I woke up at 9:30 and since it was Sunday, everyone was home. We went to a craft fair, and this woman charged me 52 cents tax on a $7 pair of earrings! It was outrageous! (I mean, really, tax at a CRAFT fair?) Anyway, then we went home and I played with Olivia's dolls, well, not really PLAY, more like LOOK. Then, after dinner, I read a book and watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind for the 5th time. Really siked day. 11:07

Saturday, June 22, 1985 (age 13)



Today was OK. I got up at 9, and no one was home! (except for Marcy [ed note: Olivia's daughter] of course). We had breakfast, and then her father came home. I was supposed to go riding today, but the girl (who owns the horse) wasn't home. I met this boy Tad, who acts just like Dexter Driscoll (obscene). Marcy said he was cute, but after the parade and carnival, when I was introduced - oh yuck! I could have killed Marcy for even suggesting it! 11:35

Friday, June 21, 1985 (age 13)




Today is the first day of summer! Me and Kelsey woke up at about 9. Then we had breakfast and took our showers. While I packed, she sunbathed. While I cut the grass, she sunbathed. Then I called Wendy and she came over. Kelsey and she helped me change my room around because there wasn't anything else to do. Kelsey was supposed to go to Keith's house, but he never came for her. Oh jive. Then me and Becky left to go to Olivia's (ed. note, my Mother's co-worker) house. It's really nice here. Well, good night! 11:18

Thursday, June 20, 1985 (age 13)



Today Kelsey came over and while we were taking a walk, we decided that she should sleep over because I wouldn't be seeing her for a week. She asked her mom and she said yes. While we were watching TV, Kelsey spit on me. I looked at her and said "You're dead now" and tickle tortured her until she was pleading for me to stop. Then after 5 minutes of sitting still, I motioned to give her the finger, but she screamed and got both of us in trouble. 12:14

Wednesday, June 19, 1985 (age 13)



Today was maybe a little better than yesterday. Kelsey came over, and we went to the center of town. I bought a pair of shorts and some earrings. Kelsey bought a shirt from Weathervane, and a pair of shorts from Emphasis. Later, when we wanted to go to the movies, Lacey forgot to ask her parents to drive one way and so we couldn't go. Then, after dinner, Dad, Mom, me and Becky went to Aunt Bea's house. After that, we went shopping and I got 3 pairs of shorts - can you believe it? 10:10

Tuesday, June 18, 1985 (age 13)



Today was so boring! To start it off, Becky left to go to her friend's house, so I was alone for a couple of hours. Then Lacey came over, and about a half hour later, Sabrina and Wendy came over. They stayed for a couple of hours, and just when we were about to leave to go to the center of town, Becky's friend's mother called saying that Becky would be home in a half an hour. Was I pissed! But Kelsey, Nadine and I went after dinner. Fun day, huh? 11:12

Monday, June 17, 1985 (age 13)



Today was the last day of school, and we had our Science exam today. After the exam, our bus came like 30 minutes after it was supposed to. Then Kelsey, Lacey and Nadine came over and they started screaming "No more school! Hurrah! Yeah!" But I wasn't glad. I mean, I won't see anyone for 2 whole months, and then, to make it worse, going to a strange school in the fall! I only caught a glimpse of Sam today - oh no! I won't see him all summer! 11:37

Sunday, June 16, 1985 (age 13)



Today was Father's Day. I gave Dad his fishing hat (to match his jacket of course) and a card. Then I cut the front yard and went to Wendy's until supper time. After dinner I went to Lacey's to study for Science tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last day of school! Hurrah! Well, maybe not, I don't want to say good-bye! I'll miss everyone so much! Do you know how bored I will be during the summer with nothing to do? Ugh! But I'll miss Sam the most. 9:50

Saturday, June 15, 1985 (age 13)


Another boring Saturday. Wait, not quite. First off, I cleaned my room, then vacuumed the house. After lunch I cut the back yard and then did nothing until a few minutes before dinner, when we went to the store. We came back and Lacey called me over. I stayed until dinner time and after dinner went to Sabrina's house where me, Sabrina and Wendy (in a vain attempt) to play badminton. After they had left to go to Katrina's party, I went home and watched this weird movie. Fascinating day, huh? 11:12

Friday, June 14, 1985 (age 13)



Today started out as an incredibly perfect day- an 80 on my French exam, Mr. Toole said I "didn't do bad" and Sam said hi to me and correctly said my first name! But then, Nadine pulled a BAD (and I mean pissy bad) joke on me. Dahlia and Lacey were in on it too. I am very pissed right now. Also, I went to Wendy's house and Nadine's house before that. That's about the highlight of the day, except there's one more day of school, and Sam presents a problem - Bonnie C and Kendra Y. Both like him, it's like Oh No! 11:04

Thursday, June 13, 1985 (age 13)




Some more finals! Today was History and English. I must have gotten a D on my History and a C on my English. Tomorrow is Algebra - I have to get at least a B on it. I better! I need it really bad!
Saw Sam today. He got a haircut - he looks SO fine! Oh my god does he ever! But he likes Callie. When Dan told him that I like him, he also told him that Callie did too. And OF COURSE he picked Callie. If I were him I'd pick Callie too. They're not going out - yet.
Well, enough of my silly antics. I have to study really hard tomorrow for 5th period if I want a good grade on Algebra. Oh well, gots to go! 9:35

Wednesday, June 12, 1985 (age 13)



Today we had finals - but before that, we had like 2 hours in the cafeteria for a study hall. I saw Sam! While me and Lacey were studying for French, he walked in. Kelsey and Nadine saw him and said "Daphne, guess who?" in that sort of sing-song voice, so I said in the same voice "I know" and they laughed.  Then when we were leaving to go to French, Sam came up to me and said "Oh my god, I'm going to fail, going to fail, fail fail!" When I asked him what he was going to fail, he didn't answer. I guess he remembered that I liked him. Oh well, time for History tomorrow. 9:44

Tuesday, June 11, 1985 (age 13)



Today was the last day of gym! Yeah! But can you believe it, I only saw Sam for about 5 minutes today? In Band, when we were waiting to go to the High School. Ohmigod - I was like Oh No! Anyway - we took this tour of the High School and I am going to be SO LOST - there is no way I am going to find my way around! NO WAY.
Later, after school, Kelsey and Lacey came over and while we were sun tanning, me and Lacey studied our French. Then, Lacey came over again after dinner and we studied some more - oh no! Finals tomorrow! Ugh! 9:48

Monday, June 10, 1985 (age 13)


Today was my last day of Health! Yeah! Let's see, also - I DON'T BELIEVE IT - this morning Sam was actually talking to me! Ohmigod - this may mean he's not mad at me! Yeah! Also - we missed French because of an awards ceremony. Sam won a trophy for Most Valuable Player in soccer - way to go Sam! Then in Band, we had a power failure - lasted until Algebra. Pretty fucked up - ya know? Also - today was the last day for music lessons! Thank the lord god - no more Sal Y! Yeah! 10:01

Sunday, June 9, 1985 (age 13)



Today we went shopping for Dad's Father's Day present. Mom got him a pair of shorts, with a matching shirt. Becky got him a bathrobe (Mom paid for it of course) and I bought him a fishing hat. I also bought 2 cards, one for Father's Day and the other for Mom and Dad's anniversary. Becky conned Mom into buying her a little rainbow pencil too. Then we went home. I cut the grass, talked to Lacey and that's today! Exciting, isn't it? 10:19

Saturday, June 8, 1985 (age 13)



Today was pretty boring. I cleaned my room, sewed patches on my Girl Scout vest, and did homework. Then after dinner, I went downstairs and watched TV. Mom had left to go out to dinner with her friends, so we watched Friday the 13th The Final Chapter and half of Strange Brew. Because my days are extremely not worth writing down lately, I'm signing off now. 11:24

Today was OK. Even though Sam still hates my guts, and because I'm grounded and couldn't go to the amusement park with the catechism class doesn't mean anything. Well see, its 12:03 and I'm the only one up so I want to get some sleep. Nite-Nite. 12:04

Thursday, June 6, 1985 (age 13)



Today was half blast and half disaster. I'll start with the disaster. Dan decided to tell Sam that I like him - his way. Now Sam hates my guts. When I try to talk to him, he turns around and ignores me.
Now we will do blast - (oh wait, one more disaster, at the amusement park today I went on The Rotor and it drops the floor out from under you - so when the ride stopped I fell and twisted my ankle). Today's blast was - we went to the amusement park! I had so much fun! I got a blue flower and can you believe it? Keith Dacosta won a stuffed unicorn on the FIRST try! (dime toss). 9:43

I thought I saw somewhere that this ride had been banned from amusement parks, either way I haven't seen The Rotor in a long time. For those that aren't familiar, here is an old pic of what the interior looked like.

Wednesday, June 5, 1985 (age 13)



Today was extremely boring. Can you believe Bonnie Caldwell likes Sam? I have absolutely NO CHANCE with him now. Callie says that he doesn't like her. I hope so! Callie also says that he should know that I like him - something about how maybe he likes me or something like that. Anyway, we were supposed to go to the amusement park today but it rained and we didn't go. We're going tomorrow though!
Dan embarrassed me so bad in Algebra - Mrs. Mixton said something like "keep your hands off the girls" and Dan said "oops - better stop - Sam might get mad." I could have KILLED him! 9:50

Tuesday, June 4, 1985 (age 13)



Today was, well, interesting. We were in gym, and I got to home base! SIKE! Then, in English, Tyler was being soooooo nice to me (I can't see why) but I suppose I still do like him (but only a LITTLE bit mind you). In Band, Hannah embarrassed me by threatening to tell Sam that I like him and that I want to "get to know him better". Ohmigod! Let's see, what else. Oh, in catechism, today was our last day and we had a party. I'm so upset I can't go to the amusement park with them! My parents - jeez! Make me sick MAN. Oh well, time to HIT THE SACK. 9:25

Monday, June 3, 1985 (age 13)



Today is MONDAY and Monday means seeing Sam in the band room in the morning to brighten my whole day! Anyway, he did and life is pretty fresh. He told me this joke before lunch - it should be somewhere in this book - look for it! (ed. note: alas, no longer!) Well, when I got home I watched General Hospital and then I called Wendy. We talked until Dad got home, then I went to music lessons (the shoes - oh his shoes!). Anyway, then I was bored for a couple 'a hours, then I watched some television, and now I be here! Sunday, June 2, 1985 (age 13)


Ugh - not ANOTHER Sunday! Well, I went to bed so late last nite that I slept until 11:00. Then, while I was ironing,  Ellie came over (Becky's friend). So then I did my homework and Mom left to go to the store. While she was gone I talked to Wendy on the phone until she came home. Then, after dinner, I went outside into the yard and talked to Nick, Kelsey and Lacey (over the border line, of course). Nothing much after that. So I'm going to sleep now. Good Night. 10:14

Saturday, June 1, 1985 (age 13)

Still grounded, so today was pretty boring. The exciting parts were that I went to this puppet show (Girl Scouts) for the handicapped and mentally retarded. Wow, pretty weird. Anyway, when I got home I cleaned my room. While I was changing my bed, Mom was saying things like If you ever decide to leave, I'll help you pack, etc. Does anyone really know what it's like to have a mother that doesn't love them? I do. Later, Mom and Dad went out to eat. So I'm home by myself, then Becky gets scared of sleeping over her friend's house and has to come home (sigh). 11:23

Friday, May 31, 1985 (age 13)



Today was a pretty cool day except that Mr. Neuman was being a real bastard today. He sent Sam and Matt down to the office (Mr. Dupre's office even!) Anyway, Mr. Neuman was this big lyin' cat, sayin' that he WARNED Sam and Matt not to talk THREE times and he really didn't even warn them once!
Sam also sat in front of me at lunch!
Then after school, I talked to Kelsey and then Wendy and Sabrina. Mom didn't even say I couldn't talk on the phone! So she comes home and is ready to beat the living shit outta me - and if nothing can get worse, I found out this kid Darius Prime likes me! Help! 11:50

Thursday, May 30, 1985 (age 13)



Today was so mixed up -  I don't know where to begin.
But first, Sam signed my yearbook!
Anyway, see Nadine got mad at me because Mom kept talking about her. So I told Mom - then Nick yelled BITCH and Mom heard it. So Nick and Mom are battling it out head to head and then Deb and Dad came out. I left to go to Girl Scouts but when I got home Mom grounded ME for two weeks. Kelsey is going to help me make an appointment with the school psychiatrist. I hope it helps. 10:21

Wednesday, May 29, 1985 (age 13)



Today after school I went to Kelsey's house so we could go to our last baseball game of the season. At about 4 we walked to Dahlia's house and borrowed her bike. Then we went to the game. Sam was there. While we were watching the game - he snuck up behind us and sort of leaned on both of us. When he left to talk to Billy Natts, I looked at Kelsey and was like Help, I'm going to faint. Then after the game, we went to Dahlia's house again - where we got to ride on her TRZ (I guess those are the letters?) Really cool man! Word! 10:20

Tuesday, May 28, 1985 (age 13)


Ohmigod! Sam wasn't here today! I was SO upset. Anyway - Tyler is trying to make me so jealous (and I kinda am). In catechism, he comes up to me and goes "Hey Daphne, guess what - I just gave Kelsey a big kiss!" I, of course, ignored him and instead said "Oh gee, Kelsey, I do think my mother is here - gosh Kelsey I think it's time to go now." and left. This boy is really pissing me off - he thinks I still like him! Well, I kinda do - and if he keeps this "jealous" shit up - I don't know what I'm going to do! 9:24

Monday, May 27, 1985 (age 13)



Today we had our Memorial Day parade and boy was it HOT! I had to wear BLACK, 100% cotton pants - ugh! Talk about hot! Anyway - I gave Tyler his card that I got for him, and Sam doesn't even know about the little incident with Sabrina! (see May 26, 1985) I'm like so happy! After the parade, I didn't do much, just sat around. Then, after dinner, I went to Nadine's until about 8. Then she came HERE until around 8:30. I saw this perverted movie on TV about this one guy raping this other guy - it's like gross! 10:10
