Today is Wednesday, but I didn't go to school. Why, you ask?! Because I didn't do my outline for History and dad said I could stay home just so that I did it all while I stayed here. And I did it you bet! But I was glad I didn't go because the Thespians had a field trip - and they all left with a lot of people out, Lacey and Sabrina said. And that was about it - oh, Sam was at school. I'm glad because I would have been terribly upset if he and I were home at the same time, ya know? 10:09

Today was pretty weird. It was really icy out this morning and school was an hour delayed. When we did go to school, all the class times were shortened. Then I got some blue junk on my white sweater and had to take it off. Then, after school, me, Lacey and Seth stayed (ed. note: later to do a project) for I.P.S. And after that, me, Lacey and Nadine had one helluva time crossing a flooded stream while it was raining to get to the library. I went babysitting and all I got was $6 and I didn't finish my homework. 11:06

Today was really boring. And I mean REALLY boring. We had some freezing rain and so that had mom come home a half an hour earlier and dad didn't go to work at all! Nothing was open because today was Washington's Birthday Observed. Wow what fun! Anyway, I'd better go - I have to write down the names of some songs to see if I win this (radio) contest or not. 10:08

Today was quite boring. I was supposed to go to the library but then my parents decided to go to the mall so I guess I'll go tomorrow. Anyway, Nadine came over and we watched The Last American Virgin. After that, I went to her house but she started talking on the phone and I got bored and left. Then, after dinner, we watched The Evil That Men Do and Not Necessarily The News. And that was that! 11:10

Today I went to music lessons. When I came out, I found out that dad had left his keys in the car and we had to wait for the police to come and open it up. So while we were waiting, me and Becky went downstairs and putted around mom's store (ed. note: music lesson place was in the same complex as my mother's work). We went to the movie store later and I got the Miami Vice movie!!! Then after dinner we saw some dumb movie called Scared to Death. And that was all! 11:30

Well, the world didn't blow up today - but still! It should have! Anyway, not much happened except that we (me, Lacey and Nadine) went to the center of town.  When we were walking out of the pharmacy, we saw Sam walking with Barrett Ulbright! I was like Ho Shit and when Nadine said "Look who's coming Daphne", I froze in my tracks and my heart skipped a beat. Also, mom and dad read the two love stories I wrote and hounded me about them all night! 10:37

Today was pretty dull. Lacey and Nadine came over for a while and after that Nadine convinced me to go to the ice skating pond with her because EVERYBODY was going to be there. WRONG! Nobody was there - the only people that were considerably decent were Thom Spencer, Laura Hable, Neil, Kyle Effert, and Vaughn - who Nadine just LEFT me to go be with. And when I got really mad she said "Well, Daphne, it was important!" Righto. 10:12

Today Sabrina, Nadine and Kelsey came over and we watched Mask and The Breakfast Club. Also, a boy called today but it wasn't anyone to get thrilled over. It was Dan and the only reason he called was to see if I knew anything about a prank call to Ben Chalmers with mine and Kelsey's name in it. Wotta sike huh. Then I went next door and we played Ouija until Nadine almost burned her quilt! (ed. note: with a candle) 10:39

Tuesday, February 11, 1986

Today was very cool. We got out of school early at 12:00! Oh no, you know I was siked. But the most sike-ic thing of the day was that when Kelsey was carrying my clarinet for me, the tag fell off. I didn't know that Sam or the tag were behind us and when Sam said "is this yours" I was like "Yes!"
And some BOY (as mom would say) called today. I don't know who. When mom asked for a message  - they hung up! Oh no! I want to know who it was! 10:25

Not much happened today except that Dad came over early (ed.note - I think that is worded wrong. Probably meant "came home early") so that I could go next door. We didn't do much there either except when Neil beat up on Kacey Gabak. Now THAT was funny! I also drew up my Valentine's. I decided not to give Sam one, but to just wish him a happy one in person. Well, best start chillin'. 10:12

Today me, Nadine, mom and Becky went to this Chocolate Expo. There was this really fine guy there, but I still thought he didn't hold a candle to Sam! Then, it was so funny, we were following these TV people around trying to get on TV, and they'd leave every time we'd catch up with them! I really sincerely doubt that we were on it (TV), and Nadine kept wanting to get Miss Connecticut's autograph. I was like OK! 9:44

Today I went to music lessons and then we went to go get some movies. Evan was there and we weren't talking about anything really important, but when he put his arm around me (just as a joke of course!) Becky just couldn't get enough of it. "ooooh, Daphne he put his ARM around yoooouuu." I was like yeah, what are you gonna do about it? Also slept over Nadine's house. 9:42

Today it was Kendra Yaeger's birthday. So I was in charge of going around and telling everyone that we were going to sing Happy Birthday in the band storage room. Well, in band, Sam was sitting way over near the window where he usually sits and so I yelled "Sam - c'mere!" and I darted into the storage room. I didn't think he'd come, but he did! Except when I told him that we were singing for Kendra Yaeger. He turned around and said "nah" and walked back to his seat! 11:17

Today was pretty cool. In band Sam said "Daphne, let me see your haircut", but I didn't hear him so I was like "What?" and he just kept staring at me and didn't answer. So I said "What did he say?" and Kelsey said he wants to see your haircut. And I was like Oh! But Sam never said if he liked it or not. Then we had this assembly about Fight Choreography. There were four guys. Two of them (Craig and Wayne) - god were they fine! 10:05

Today after school me and Sabrina went to her house. At two o'clock we went to the library, Sam was there. I didn't say much because everything I wanted to say sounded dumb. Then Sabrina and I went to the pharmacy. Sam was there also. Then I went and got my hair cut. It looked really bad because it wasn't curled or anything. When I went back to the library to get my books Sam was sitting at the same place where I wrote I <3 SD '86. I went out of there fast! 10:03

Today was very dull. Didn't do much let me tell you. When I got home Kelsey and Nadine came over and we were looking at pictures from 7th grade. Very funny looking let me tell you. Then Nadine started asking Kelsey questions like if she was a virgin and Kelsey said no and then they started talking about stuff like will it hurt and shit like that. Pretty nasty. 10:02

Today I found out what we got on mid-terms. History - D- (have to fix that!), Algebra - B+, English - B+, French - C- (maybe will have to fix that) and I.P.S a C! Ohmigod - the course that I am failing and I get a C! Ohmigod - total sike here. Anyway, that was about all, nothing exciting happened otherwise. Bye. 10:03

11 days before doomsday - sounds very depressing - doesn't it? WELL - IT IS. Valentine's IS a doomsday, isn't it? It could kill someone with its monstrous cards and retched candy. It's very depressing also. I mean,  who, if you don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend or etc., gives candy and cards out? Don't they just sit home and feel sorry for themselves knowing that another Valentine's Day has come and gone they couldn't give a Valentine to the person they like because they know that person will scoff in their face?  Well, its beyond me. 9:41

Today not much happened. I went to music lessons, went home and watched The Breakfast Club and then went next door and saw some of The Wild Life. Then I had dinner, ironed, practiced the brand-new (well, its reconditioned) clarinet I got today, and then watched part of Under Fire, and here I am now! Exciting day, isn't it? 10:34

Today I didn't have to go to school because I had no final today! Anyway, today was really queer. First, Kelsey came over. Then Lacey. NEXT Kelsey invited Sabrina over. And Lacey invited Nadine so we were all there. Lacey decided to play Quarters and Sabrina got really drunk. Then mom called and said she was coming home early. So everyone left except Nadine who left around dinnertime. Then I got grounded for a week cuz moms sick and really crabby. Oh well! 11:04

Today I had my two exams, English and Science. I think I did OK on both, but I know English was better. When I got home, I went to Kelsey's for a while. Then she came over here and we called so many phone numbers looking for recording machines. Only got 3 and the phone number of a guy who has a VERY nice voice. I had to call twice just to make sure it was that good. Kelsey also was ranking on Kris Driscoll so much. She can be so mean! 11:14

Today I felt a little better. Well, the exam schedule was Algebra and French. I aced Algebra. So easy! French was another matter. I practically spent the whole hour and a half trying to read the directions! How distressing. But before all of this, in the cafeteria, I was looking around for Sam and when I didn't see him I said in a very loud voice "Where's Sam? Doesn't he have a Biology test today?" A shocked Kelsey pointed across the table to the next table not 5 feet away. Luckily I didn't say it THAT loud. Sam was sitting with his back to me studying for Biology. 10:25

Today we had mid-terms. I had History and Band. In History I'm getting a B-. I was so siked! During Band though, I felt really sick and one time I felt like I was going to faint. When I got home, I called Mom and she said I have the flu. GOD - every muscle in my body aches! Especially in my head and neck. Also the space shuttle Challenger crashed today. Seven people died. Pretty sad. 9:49

Well, not much happened today. I finally decided to say hi to Sam and when I do he says hi to Kelsey! (Kelsey insists that he said hi to me too). So then I tried it again, coming out of French. This time he just stared at me and I know he didn't say anything because I was listening! After school, Dahlia, Lacey and me went to the center of town. Then Dahlia went to karate so me and Lacey spent the rest of the time in the library writing on the tables. 10:08

Super Bowl Sunday! This is Super Bowl XX and I spent the day next door at Lacey's. We didn't do much, we worked out for a while, then Dahlia came over and we studied for IPS. Then we watched the Super Bowl. Not continuously, but we watched some and studied some.  I beat up Nick, Neil and Nadine until Nick decided to get cute and he threw his dad's Docksider into my face! Also Chicago won over New England 46-10. Ha! 10:04

Today it snowed. I went to music lessons. I have a new teacher, her name is Madeline and she's really nice. She laughs a lot. When I got back I watched the movie "Explorers". Then I went next door. After dinner I studied and then I saw the movie "Irreconcilable Differences". 11:23

Today was so dull for a Friday. Except Lacey and Nadine came over after school and we didn't even do much then. I also saw Miami Vice. I almost missed it though because I was studying for mid-terms and I wasn't paying attention to the time. Oh well. 11:04

Today was a very hectic day. I was supposed to stay after school with Lacey but then she decided that she wasn't at the last minute. So I didn't. We also had Girl Scouts today. They decided that we were going to go to either one of these places - Nova Scotia, Boston, or Washington D.C. Big Selection huh? I personally wouldn't mind Boston, but then again, Nova Scotia doesn't sound all that bad either! 10:10

Today was OK, not really exciting and mostly pretty dull. 1st period (history): had a quiz which I took but most likely failed. 2nd period (algebra): COUGHED A LOT. 3rd period (english): saw the Wizard of Oz. 4th period (lunch): ATE. 5th period (band): listened to a 10 minute song played by the Air Force Band. 6th period (french): Well, I'm getting there! 7th period (IPS): had a lab. 8th period (study hall): Vance took my clip and finally gave it back.  P.S. Today I didn't go to school because I had a cold. So Dad took me to the doctor and they swabbed the back of my throat for a test to see whether I had strep throat or not. Kelsey came over after school, (actually, after I went to the doctors) and Nadine came over after school. Well, I better go, school tomorrow. 10:14
