Ah-ha! The new year is here! But today really sucked because nothing was open! Nadine and Kelsey were at Sally’s so Lacey came over and we played Monopoly until it was dinnertime. Then I went over to her house and played Monopoly until I had to go home and go to bed. School tomorrow (NO SIKE). Today we got back from Grandma’s. I have over 50 bucks! When we got home I went to Lacey’s and we went to the center of town for a minute. I got a magazine. Then we went back and played UNO. Then I had to go because I had to babysit Becky. Mom and Dad went to a New Years party. We watched MTV and rang in the new year in with them. Got to bed at 1:00 too (SIKE).

Today we went to Aunt Fay’s to have lunch. Guess what we had? How did you EVER guess? How did you ever guess that we had spaghetti? (Gee - wild guess). Then Becky got this puzzle and we all had to work on it (1000 pieces!) of course. Theodore and them HAD to be there - can never get away from them. I was thinking - if Theodore was in our school I’ll bet you anything he would be considered a nerd. Ig! I’m glad he lives in Nevada! Away from me!

Today we left for Grandma’s (its like - big sike) and guess who came about 2 hours after we got there? You guessed it. Uck! Theodore, Otto and Harry! (ed note: my two cousins and uncle) Yig! I didn’t pay much attention though - I pretended to be much more interested in Grandpa’s boom box. Later, we went out to dinner at this real ritzy place. Uncle Frank’s treat but he didn’t come cuz his girlfriend Lanie couldn’t make it. And I haven’t seen him in four years! What a day!

Today Mom went to work and that means 4 solid hours without her! And better yet, Becky was at Maggie’s house SO I was ALL by MYSELF, SIKE! Then Kelsey came over and we BLASTED the stereo and chowed on sugar cookies. Then we watched our soap operas - Kelsey, Guiding Light - Me, General Hospital. Then Nick came over to see Kelsey - ick! Right now I’m about to read “The Stand” by Stephen King. Gots to be going!

Today we went to the mall. I got some grey jeans! Father didn’t approve of them - as usual. Then I went over to Nadine’s and Lacey played this remix of “Out of Touch”. It’s SO fresh! So I taped it. Then Nadine came in and all three of us played UNO. And that’s about it for today folks. Except that Tilly (Becky’s Cabbage Patch doll) took a Willy Willy with Billy who told her she was silly and dilly and Tilly just sat there and fillied with Jilly.

Christmas Eve! Wow, can’t believe it’s here so soon! No snow on the ground either. Well today Lacey, Nadine and Kelsey came over and we exchanged gifts. I gave Lacey her fluorescent purse and the necklace and she gave me a cute white unicorn. I gave Nadine her two books and mousse and Kelsey her two books. Kelsey gave me the book “Fire Starter” and I love it! It’s so good! Well, gots to go to sleep. Tomorrow is a very big day…

Today was OK I guess (but I still HATE holidays!) Me and Lacey were talking and Mom could not HELP overhearing. Bullshit! Then she’s telling me how to behave. Give me a break! Later, I went over to Lacey’s house and baked cookies. I gave Nick his present too. I just cannot wait until Christmas! I want a boom box SO bad! Well, I want clothes too, but I want a box more. Well, it’s almost 11:00 so I’m a gonna go to sleep - Nite Nite!

Oh I can’t stand it already! This vacation! Oooh I HATE it! And it’s only the first day! Help! Nobody was home today. Dahlia, Nadine, Lacey, Kelsey, Sabrina - NOONE! So I sat around watching MTV. All day. Sabrina, Dahlia and Kelsey never got home, or else they don’t tend to messages very well. So I went over to Lacey’s house, gave Neil his present (he also got two guppies from his parents). Lacey got a bird, and Nadine was sulking because no one would get her a fish. It’s like come on!

Boo hoo! The last day of school for almost 2 weeks! Shit! I haven’t seen Tyler all week and now I have to face 12 days too!? I’ll never make it! (Help!)
Also today, I was over Lacey’s house and during the last few minutes I was there, Nadine and me were watching this movie, and then she got this call from Kyra. She wanted to come over and Nadine goes “Bet!” And she KNOWS I hate Kyra. So I left. I could never stand that. Sometimes, I just hate Nadine!

Oh there’s this AWFUL rumor going around that Tyler has mono. It’s this very contagious mouth disease that can be caught by kissing or, kissing other than the lips. It’s so rude it’s not even funny.
Myra Ullman finally decided to write! After about 6 months she finally wrote. Last time I saw her was 6th grade. Mighty long way back, eh? Well, it’s cold and I need my sleep so bye!

Oh wow my alarm didn’t go off this morning and I woke up at 7:15! I had 15 minutes to shower, change and do everything else! (SIKE)
Oh shit Tyler was absent today (a ruined week {SIKE}) and so he wasn’t at our concert we had just 45 minutes ago. It was so fresh! The jazz band - man - they are the BEST! Wow, talk about FRESH. Well hopefully my alarm will go off tomorrow. I’m a gonna get me some sleep now! See ya!

Today Mom baked the traditional Christmas cookies and as usual Becky chowed about 9 dozen. I changed my room around too. Well, Nadine helped and Lacey came afterwards for awhile. Then I guess an hour later, I went over to Nadine’s house and stayed for around an hour and ½. Hell yeah wasn’t today absolutely groovy? (ha - groovy? Sorry I’m still in the 70’s - I mean absolutely FRESH). Much better - bye!

Today I went to the center of town with Kelsey. I got K.J. his Christmas gift (ed.note - the catechism teacher) - a silver chain, I got Kelsey’s present - two books, and a card for Dad. Mom bought me “Amityville Horror - The Final Chapter” and I just got done with it. Wasn’t all that good - but it wasn’t bad either. Damn, it’s cold in here. Well, I’m going to snuggle in my electric blanket and…oh yes. We (me and Kelsey) also went can collecting and Method of Modern Love (Daryl Hall and John Oates!) is on now. Well, gots to be trottin’! Today was really boring. EXCEPT: in French, me and Lacey wrote this excellently funny note. It was SO funny! Also in Science I was in this ranking mood and ranked up both Omar and Tim (but that didn’t take much, huh?) Let’s see - um - what else? Oh yeah, me and Lacey were outside, and then Nadine comes trotting over with Kyra. So I went inside because Lacey was complaining of the cold and went in. So they (N and K) go into my garage with Neil and Becky and just stand there - forgetting all about me. I’m like jeez!

Today we had a Girl Scout Christmas party. I guess you could say it was fun. We had a grab bag and I got this cheap little notebook while everyone else got bags of Hershey’s Kisses, calendars, etc. etc. I felt so embarrassed!
Can’t wait - only 6 more days of school until Christmas vacation! I’m so siked! Well, see today was so boring, I’ll go even though I’m only in the middle of the page. Well bye!

Well now isn’t this great? Tyler thinks I’m mad at him. Just because I had this MASSIVE headache in Science and he wanted to know why I was mad at him. I told him I wasn’t - but he doesn’t believe me. Also, he goes with Heather Hume. I don’t even know who she is! Everyone says she’s not pretty and that Tyler “supposedly” hates her guts. That’s not what I heard! Oh I’m so upset - I cried for a whole half-an-hour. Oh it’s not fair - why can’t I have him?

Oh Tyler embarrassed me SO much in catechism! We were just sitting there (me and Kelsey) writing notes because it is so boring. So then Tyler yells “Daphne loves me” like that and Kelsey started to laugh. I turned and asked her “What did he say?” and she laughed more and said “He said you love him!” So in our notes Kelsey put “but you still LOVE him” and I put “Well (F) you”. After catechism I thought Tyler found our notes because he yelled “Looky here - a note” like that. I was SO embarrassed! It wasn’t funny at all!

Today we put up our Christmas tree. Nick and Neil were bragging about their tree and didn’t think ours would even come close to theirs creatively. (SIKE!) Ours is DEFINITELY better than theirs. (I’m not being conceited - that’s just the way it is). See and it’s only two weeks away! (Christmas). Oh I am so siked. Well, it’s not EXACTLY two weeks. More like 12 days or so. Well see today was boring besides the fact I didn’t have lessons (ed. Note: clarinet lessons) because the guy was absent. SIKE! Gots to go - bye!

Well today really was half-boring and half-spazztic. The boring half we won’t discuss because that’s boring so we’ll just comment on the spaz part. I saw Method of Modern Love on MTV! Daryl Hall and John Oates and ooh do I love Daryl Hall! (John Oates is cute too). Me and Kelsey spazzed when we saw it. Then I calmed down considerably. I saw Nadine’s tree - it really is nice. We are putting ours up on Monday or Tuesday. Gotta go.

Today was so boring. The only thing that was even the tiniest bit interesting was that Becky saw Tyler at catechism (Holy Week). Me and Kelsey went shopping near mom’s work. I got Lacey’s, Nadine’s, Neil’s, Nick’s and dad’s present there. I have to get Kelsey’s present tomorrow or some time next week. I had to baby-sit Becky while Lacey (at the same time) had to baby-sit the Celina’s so we talked the whole night practically. Well, gots to be sleeping - it’s 11:16! I’m so dead! Bye!

Today was OK (enough). First, in Science, Mrs. Culver sent Dan and Tyler out to put some junk in her car trunk. About 5 minutes after they left, Dan comes in and goes “Um, what car is it again?” So she goes “It’s that dark green one.” Dan gets this shocked expression and explains “We were trying to open the yellow one.” So then after that, Dad took me and Becky out to dinner. After that we went to B. Dalton and yes - Becky HAD to get something there. She can’t even read the damned book she got anyway! I got “Carrie” by Stephen King. I’m going to read it now, bye!
Today was OK (enough). First, in Science, Mrs. Culver sent Dan and Tyler out to put some junk in her car trunk. About 5 minutes after they left, Dan comes in and goes “Um, what car is it again?” So she goes “It’s that dark green one.” Dan gets this shocked expression and explains “We were trying to open the yellow one.” So then after that, Dad took me and Becky out to dinner. Thursday, December 6, 1984 (age 13)
Today you could say was pretty OK. Except in band practice Tyler went up to Sabrina and said hi. So Sabrina goes and says “Daphne still likes you a lot.” So he goes “Yeah, I like her as a friend and all that, but I don’t think I’ll ever ask her out.” Then he says “If she gets me a very expensive present - I’ll think about it.” So Sabrina goes “Like what?” which led to “A walkman, how ‘bout? Yeah, one that’s got a radio AND a tape.” (Which costs about 60 or 70 bucks). And I am NOT about to spend all that on anyone! (SIKE)

Wednesday, December 5, 1984 (age 13)
Today sucked so bad. It’s not even funny! For one thing, it was Wednesday. Then the cat puked on the kitchen floor. Which led to another extravagant meeting with Hannah (snob city). Tyler in Science was probably the only good thing out of the whole day! Then, Nadine got PO’d about something very ridiculous but then we made up. Then my mother wouldn’t let me back out of the house because I knocked on the door for them to turn on the lights! This day was really terrible (SIKE).

Tuesday, December 4, 1984 (age 13)
Today we had band practice out on the stage (SIKE). Well anyway I got the homework (math, of course) for Tyler and then right before we played “Danza Sonora” he was mouthing something to me that I didn’t understand so I waved him off. Probably disappointed I suppose. What he had said was that my homework was under my homework in the band room. Well in math I asked him for it and he said “That’s what I was trying to tell you - it’s under your notebook.” When I got to the band room Mr. Neuman had it and I just made it to class - whew!

Monday, December 3, 1984 (age 13)
Well today was this kinda bummer. Lacey has a shiner! A nice black and purple one at that. Bumpus hit her. Well she ran into Bumpus and…well, we won’t get into that now will we? No, I didn’t think so. Tyler borrowed my math homework and just my luck - he left it in his locker! Well I was terribly upset, and begged for him to get it. He finally did and I was like “Whew!” cuz at that instant Mrs. Mixton collected the homework. (oh yeah, don’t get me wrong, he’s still fine). Bye.
